If you have popped into Pacific Place lately, you will have have noticed something a little different. The railings are wrapped in gorgeous garlands, the flower pots are bursting with poinsettias, and a particular jolly old man in a red suit has set up a cabin on level 2.
That’s right! We have the holidays on our minds and have truly decked the halls to prove it! We can’t get enough holiday spirit, and we have some upcoming events we can’t wait to share with all of you:
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
While Mother Nature in the Pacific Northwest seems to struggle with the concept of an actual “White Christmas,” here at Pacific Place we take snow matters into our own hands. Every evening at 6 p.m., between November 29th and December 31st, we transform our atrium into an indoor snow globe! The snow flurries aren’t complete without an adorable snowflake wand. Since it is the season of giving, the wands are available for a $2 suggested donation and 100% of the proceeds benefit Seattle Children’s! We can’t wait to catch some snowflakes!
The snowfall is made possible this year by:
Oliver! at The 5th Avenue Theatre
A special thanks to our snowflake wand sponsors Sound Community Bank, Seattle Department of Transportation, Botanical Designs, ABM Security Services, PSR Mechanical, Seattle Building Maintenance, Schindler Elevator Corporation, Impark and SeQuential Pacific Biodiesel.
Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
Ho, ho, ho! He’s back! Thanks to our friends at Arthur & Associates Holiday Photography, Santa Claus makes his triumphant return to Pacific Place beginning on November 29th. Santa’s Cabin is all set up now on Level 2 and looks adorable! Dickensian character cutouts from the 5th Avenue Theater’s Oliver! will be sure to cheer you up while waiting in line! While waiting in line in the Oliver! waiting area, kids can also express their creativity decorating Oliver! coloring sheets.

In Excelsis Deo & All That Jazz!
From jazz singers to gospel choirs to blues guitarists; this year’s holiday entertainment lineup is packed full of sweet Seattle sounds. We are especially excited to hear some A Cappella holiday favorites from ZING!, Pat Wright and The Good Foot Band and A Very 5th Avenue Christmas Performances.

A Tree To Light Up Your Holiday!
You may have noticed an extra special Christmas tree on Level 2, and we can’t help but brag about how amazing it looks! Ski Idaho, Providence O’Christmas Trees and Sound Community Bank have teamed up to create this gorgeous tree; and sisters Judy Burdin, Laurie Stewart and Cindy Teitzel designed the decorations to celebrate Seattle’s outdoorsy and rugged sense of style – think Eddie Bauer all the way. Be sure to swing by and check it out next time you’re out shopping!
While you’re admiring the tree be sure to enter to win a ski vacation to Schweitzer Mountain Resort, one of Idaho’s top winter vacation destinations from Idaho Tourism. As part of Idaho Tourism’s sponsorship of the Winter Wonderland, many Idaho Ski Association members are offering specials and discount packages accessible at visitidaho.org.
Eddie Bauer is also giving away a shopping spree to help outfit your family in all the right gear for your winter getaway! Swing by the Eddie Bauer store on Level 2 for details.
Happy holidays from all of us at Pacific Place!
As much as we want to cling to the last hints of summer, the temperature seems to have dropped for good and we find ourselves reaching for our warm coats and scarves more often than not. While bundling up may conjure up nightmares of looking bulky and bunched up, we’ve found the perfect accessories to keep you looking chic. Don’t worry, you won’t have to sacrifice style for the sake of warmth ever again.
The Side Zip Booties from EXPRESS are perfect for every occasion. They can be dressed up for a night out with the girls, or dressed down for a casual, weekend shopping trip. The thicker heel makes them so comfortable, you’ll never want to take them off!
Fur has been everywhere this season and the Matilda Faux Fur Vest from Club Monaco is an easy way to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe without feeling like you’ve suddenly transformed into Bigfoot! It’ll add instant drama and glamour to any outfit making sure you look cool, not cold.
They say we lose most of our body heat through our heads, but this Chevron Checker Hat from J.Crew will ensure we stay cozy all winter long. Not only is this hat totally fashionable, it’s functional as well. And if wearing this beanie means we can go one extra day without washing our hair, we’re not complaining!
Don’t worry gentlemen, we found plenty of functional and fashionable winter accessories for you too!
Our friends at J.Crew are famous for their wool and cashmere sweaters, and with good reason! Gents, if you are looking for something comfortable and stylish, try the Nordic Dot Sweater. This isn’t your Grandma’s knit wool sweater! The contemporary style and fit pairs wonderfully with the incredible warmth of high quality wool.
Our friends over at Eddie Bauer are the masters of outerwear and we love all their cozy winter accessories. From gloves, to flannel scarves, to lined hats; Eddie Bauer has so many awesome and cozy winter accessories it’s impossible for us to just pick one. From your fingertips to your toes, Eddie Bauer literally has you covered this season.
It’s not exactly a secret that during the winter in Seattle it rains…a lot. Thankfully, our friends at Clarks have exactly what we need to make it through the puddles with dry feet. From classic desert boots to Gore-Tex boots and shoes, Clarks has wide range of stylish footwear for the gentlemen who want to avoid wet socks this season. We love how they combine the classic look with modern, weather-ready technology.
Stay warm out there!
The holidays are our favorite time to go to the movies! As film studios scramble to put out their best and brightest new films before award season, we get a chance to escape the weather and enjoy amazing new movies with family and friends.
Here are a few upcoming movies we can’t wait to see thanks to our friends at AMC Theatres:
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – Opens December 13th
The second installment in Peter Jackson’s truly epic Hobbit trilogy looks like yet another visual masterpiece. We can’t wait to join Bilbo Baggins and his crew of dwarves as they journey to Lonely Mountain to steal treasure from Smaug, the wicked dragon who lives beneath the mountain. The characters look exactly how we pictured them from the book and, as always, the dazzling special effects alone are worth the price of admission.
Check out the trailer here:
Frozen – Opens November 27th
Frozen looks like it’s going to be a winner for the whole family. The geniuses at Disney take us to the magical kingdom called Arendelle, where the quirky protagonist princess Anna, rugged Ice salesman Kristoff, and a hysterical talking snowman named Olaf, must find Anna’s sister Elsa, who has locked the kingdom in an eternal winter. The 3D visuals look stunning, the characters in the trailer made us laugh out loud, and the empowering action-packed story looks like a lot of fun!

Saving Mr. Banks – Opens December 20th
Ever wonder about the story behind the beloved cinematic classic Mary Poppins? Well, here is your chance to get the inside scoop. Follow Tom Hanks as the personable Walt Disney, as he tries to sway opinionated author P.L. Travers to allow him to bring her beloved Mary Poppins to the silver screen. This looks like a wonderful slice-of-life film full of heartfelt and funny characters. We can’t wait to get a glimpse in to the real world of Mary Poppins.

The holidays are just around the corner and we can barely contain our excitement! From the gorgeous decorations, to spending time with friends and family, we love everything about the holiday season.
We can’t talk about the holidays without mentioning our favorite part…the food! With Thanksgiving coming up, we have turkey dinner on our minds, and so do our friends at Williams-Sonoma! From the gravy to the turkey to the mashed potatoes. Williams-Sonoma has all of our Thanksgiving needs covered.
Here are a couple of our favorite Thanksgiving essentials to help you plan the perfect feast:
Set the table
From choosing the right wine glasses, plates and silverware, setting the Thanksgiving table can be a daunting task. Thankfully, our friends at Williams-Sonoma have beautiful settings to make sure your Thanksgiving table is one to remember! From a festive turkey motif to a clean, pure white look, the Williams-Sonoma tabletop collection is gorgeous and functional. We love the pheasant place card holders!
Carve it up
Carving the Turkey on Thanksgiving is a truly iconic holiday moment, and no one wants to be stuck hacking at a perfectly cooked Turkey with a dull knife. Trust us, we’ve been there. Toss your old knife and check out the ridiculously sharp and precise knives from Williams-Sonoma. From single blades to carving boards to carving knife-sets, invest in the proper utensils and you’ll carve up your turkey perfectly year after year.
With all the decorating, planning and excitement, it’s time now to talk about the food. Williams-Sonoma is chock full of the right ingredients to help make your Thanksgiving feast delicious. We love the garlic-mashed potato seasoning, and the maple-bourbon roasting glaze for the turkey! You can even order a free-range, organic, grain-fed turkey and have it delivered in time for the holidays!
If all the preparation, cooking and planning doesn’t seem fun to you, then treat yourself to a night off and reserve a table at Il Fornaio for their Thanksgiving feast. Indulge in a four-course Thanksgiving dinner with an Italian twist! Enjoy fine wine, gourmet cooking, and, the best part, no dirty dishes! Reserve a table early though, as this feast tends to fill up quickly.
We’re not sure why, but as the leaves change colors and the chill of late fall and early winter sets in, we always find ourselves craving our favorite classic comfort foods.
Whatever the reason, we have a serious appetite for some scrumptious fall favorites, and luckily restaurants all over Pacific Place are ready to satisfy our hunger.
Here are a few of our favorite comfort foods to indulge in this fall:
Everyone knows that fall at Starbucks means all things pumpkin. From the classic pumpkin spice latte, to the mouth-watering pumpkin scone, to the indulgent pumpkin cream cheese muffin, Starbucks knows how to utilize fall’s favorite fruit (Yes, pumpkin is a fruit, we looked it up.)!
If you’re feeling like you’re going into pumpkin overload, try a chocolate chai tea latte to help you warm up. The combination of chocolate and chai is unique, sweet and seriously addictive.
Pike Place Chowder
Nothing warms up a grey fall day quite like a steaming hot bowl of clam chowder, and our friends at Pike Place Chowder are the best in the business! We’re always craving their award-winning, classic clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, but if you feel like mixing it up, try their smoked salmon chowder as a unique and delicious change of pace.
Their rolls and sandwiches are the perfect complement to a cup of chowder too! We can’t get enough of the fresh and flaky Dungeness crab roll!
For more tasty fall treats, check out the Pike Place Chowder menu here.
We couldn’t mention fabulous fall comfort foods without mentioning our friends at Il Fornaio. Their menu is full of hearty Italian dishes that can satisfy the most intense rainy-day cravings. Try their Cappellacci di Zucca, for example. This tender ravioli is filled with butternut squash, (another fall favorite), and walnuts topped with tomato sauce, brown butter, Parmigiano, and crispy sage. Pair this dish with a fabulous glass of wine and you’ll forget all about the dreary Seattle drizzle.
Sixth Ave. Wine Seller
If you have had a long day, and are looking to wind-down with something light to eat, go see our friends at Sixth Avenue Wine Seller. They have a truly UNBELIEVABLE selection of local and international wines to choose from, and an artisan menu of delicious and light shareable plates. Mix and match as you try all kinds of unique wines from around the world, and pair them with some delicious finger foods!
Fall is the season for all things stylish! Traces of summer are now in the distance. Short sleeves have been traded in for long sleeves, and lucky for us, our favorite stores at Pacific Place are debuting some fresh new styles.
Yes, gentlemen that means for you too.
Gents, we know how attached you are to your favorite pair of jeans and that college t-shirt you won at a basketball game sophomore year, but we think it’s time you give a bit of new life to your old fashion favorites.
Here are a few men’s style must-haves to update your wardrobe from our friends at GUESS?:
The Noah Corduroy Blazer is one of our favorite alternatives to a classic blazer. This fits like a classic two-button blazer, but we love how the high-shine corduroy material sets it apart from the rest!
We think every guy should have a Vito Sweater in his closet. This light cardigan is comfortable and stylish on its own, or as a layer when you bundle up to face the chilly autumn days.
We love this Jackson Frontal Pullover as a stylish alternative to the classic hoodie. It’s comfortable and casual (just like your favorite college hoodie), but doesn’t sacrifice style.
The Dean Military-Pocket Smart Slim-Fit Shirt is the essential chambray button-up for any guy looking to update his wardrobe. The smart slim-fit never goes out of style and the charcoal chambray material gives it a unique twist. We love the versatility of this shirt. Dressed up our down, this has quickly become one of our fall fashion must haves.
Alameda Jeans in Preservation Wash is a trendy and unique alternative to classic jeans. The slim and tapered fit gives you a modern profile, and the coating gives them a leather-like appearance. We love how these jeans mix it up with a light-sheen, instead of the classic denim look.
Swap out your old sneakers and stomp through Seattle puddles in a pair of Differ Boots in black or brown. These classic biker boots give a fashionable and functional edge to your style, and the fold down cuff gives these boots a versatile look that works with a whole range of outfits.
Gents, now that you have a few fall fashion essentials to help jump start your casual wardrobe, we had better not see you in that beat up hoodie and sweats this fall!
